Click “Connect to Play” and authenticate your account with the app. You are then entered into a raffle with everyone else who connects with the app. Once in a day, a winner is chosen at random at 12 noon EST. That winner is automatically followed by everyone for that day. The next day, a new winner is selected and the previous winner is automatically unfollowed.

Play-Fame.com is targeting to make one daily winner more famous than Lady Gaga! As of now the app has been used by nearly 1-2% of 21M followers.

What’s the Catch? Is that really possible?

The answer to this question is ‘Yes‘. Twitter API allows a app to add and remove followers from a user’s account. So what Play-Fame.com has done is everyone who allows that app will be declared once the winner for a day. On that day all the users who have joined the app will automatically gonna follow the winner.

Then at the end of the day,all those people will unfollow the winner again. Your account will remain the same after that. You won’t lose any followers, but you might gain some if they like what your profile depicts.

While using the new twitter on my PC, I also came across a new thing that twitter revealed today and that is embedding a tweet in your website of article of your blog. This is a very handy feature that I liked the most. The two major social networks before Google+ was launched, now joining hands to get back their dominance. Yeah you said that right!! I am talking about Facebook and Twitter getting together to threaten Google+. After the launch of Google+, most of the techies has shifted from Twitter to G+ and most of the photographers shifted from Facebook to G+. Though Google+ is still not on the highest step of social ladder but the way it is climbing, its splendid. And that forced Facebook and Twitter to make so many changes in last few weeks, to gain some attraction back.

Twitter added some more languages, image upload feature, preview to some featured tweets and many more changes. And on the other hand Facebook started off with asking users to report a bug and earn $500, then removed the 25 fans restriction from Facebook Pages, added Facebook messenger app, enhanced sharing feature and ‘subscribe’ button, changed the entire interface and recently launching Facebook Timeline, Facebook Music and many more changes that they have declared at F8.

But there is one thing that both of them are working on very silently and that is integration between the two platforms to make it very easy for users to update their statuses from any of the platform. That will enable you to update your Facebook status from Twitter and you can also tweet from Facebook without any thirdparty application.

As we mentioned earlier Twitter has just launched a hindi version of Twitter on Hindi Diwas. Now you can simply tweet in Hindi with no workarounds and extensions required.

On 14 September 1949 Hindi was recognised as RashtraBhasha in India. On 14 Sep 2011 Twitter has supported Hindi language and celebrated Hindi Diwas. Its quite a good gesture from team Twitter.

It is also expected that twitter will be launching 16 more languages in coming weeks. Lets see what comes next and on which day.

Twitter has recently crossed its milestone of 100 Million users as they mentioned in their blog. And alexa indicates Twitter still has a major traffic coming from United States (27.7%), and other countries are like Japan (7.7%), India (6.1%), UK (5.5%), Brazil (4.1).

So may be in order to attract more users from countries other than US, Twitter announced they will be supporting 17 more languages. And Hindi is one of them, after launching Hindi, Filipino, Malay and Simplified and Traditional Chinese in next weeks.

Twitter is launching a native image experience that allows users to upload images directly to Twitter.com from a computer. The images themselves are hosted by Photobucket. When you click inside the Tweet box on your homepage or on the New Tweet button, you will see two small icons in the lower left hand corner, one for adding your location (a compass), and one for uploading an image (a camera) as you can see in image below-

Twitter allows to upload any image that is 3MB or smaller and then they scale the image for you to fit into the display pane on the right side of your Twitter.com timeline.

On Twitter, you will be able to see uploaded images like this

Image 1 – Camera icon is highlighted in blue after a photo is successfully added to a Tweet:

Image 2 - Please note: In some browsers, you may see the name of the file instead of the thumbnail:

Image 3 – Clicking on the Tweet will show the image in the details pane.

You can also delete an image by only deleting the Tweet containing that image. Once that tweet is deleted, the image will be be made unavailable. It may still be cached in some browsers and servers, but the image will no longer be available from Twitter.com

Twitter  is rolling out this feature for all users gradually. If you don’t see the camera icon under your Tweet box, don’t panic. Your turn will also come, you’ll get access to image uploads very soon.

It seems like Preview to content is the next big thing which we will see everywhere. Yesterday Gmail revealed Preview Pane, that allows you to preview messages/emails without leaving your inbox. That actually helps you to navigate through various emails very easily.

Twitter also did the same thing when they introduced ‘new twitter’ layout, long back. It enabled preview to third-party tools such as DailyBooth, iTunes, Ustream, YouTube and TwitPic.

Today, when I was looking for some reviews on twitter search for a book, I saw a new thing. I saw that twitter has added preview to amazon tweets. Below is an random example-

This was not a very new experience to me, I know there is a third party tool Parrotfish available, which enables to integrate a lot of content with twitter. But I never used it, and saw twitter itself has embedded it.

I use twitter subdomain search.twitter.com for many purposes, if you also used to use that, then there is a news for you too. Twitter has recently moved its search subdomain. Now this subdomain is no more accessible, if you try to reach this you will be redirected to www.twitter.com/search. They have also changed the look and feel of search page as you can see in the image below.

All this is fine but what I really miss is some other options I used to get there on old twitter search page-

• RSS feeds for this query
• Tweet those results
• Change the language

I was searching for alternatives to all these and got this

• For RSS feeds you can still reach to twitter search api page (this is also removed now by twitter). Or simply add this to your RSS reader http://search.twitter.com/search.atom?q=<query>
• And for other two, I am still looking for a solution, let me know if you have one.

This is not first time I have received spam messages from Twitter friends, but this was really attractive. Just now I checked my twitter account and what I see is two DMs saying “Someone said this real bad thing about you in a blog” followed by a URL shortened with twitter shortener.

I was really supposed to click on that link but I thought let me first check my other messages too. And what I see is I have got 4 more messages of same kind with different URLs. That really made me think whether its original or a spam tweet and suddenly I realized that people from whom I am getting these messages, are not very much known to me. I finally un-shortened the link and saw its a dead link. Here are two of the five tweets I got -

With launch of Google+ and Google+ Brand Pages, here comes a great change to another social networking giant ”Twitter”. Though we have not heard anything from the horse’s mouth yet, but there are evidences which says Twitter has removed the restriction of DM to only users who follow you back. That means now you can DM anybody the only thing you require is a verified twitter account.

For now this service is only available to verified twitter account, they don’t need to follow you back, that enables you to write DM to most of the celebrities and brands-

As you see in the below image there is button on right corner, which twitter has recently embedded. This button is to jump to someone you follow.

To see this button you have to go to your ‘following’ page. or simply type ‘http://www.twitter.com/[username]/following/’ in the address bar. Don’t forget to replace [username ] with yours/somebody’s username.

The moment you will press this button, twitter will randomly gonna select anyone you follow. As i see the whole purpose of adding this button is to enable users to follow people more easily.

Now, it’s easy to see embedded photos and videos directly on Twitter, thanks to partnerships with Dailybooth, DeviantArt, Etsy, Flickr, Justin.TV, Kickstarter, Kiva, Photozou, Plixi, Twitgoo, TwitPic, Twitvid, USTREAM, Vimeo, Yfrog, and YouTube.
