Facebook today announced a standalone messenger app for iPhone and android platform. Users can simply download the new Facebook Messenger app for free and can share messages very frequently.
Facebook messenger provides
Reaching friends right on their phones
Now you can send messages directly to your friends on their mobile phones, so you stay in touch no matter where you go. Message friends or anyone in your mobile contacts.
Send and recieve messages fast
With the new standalone Messenger app, now messaging with friends is faster than ever. Messages are delivered instantly, and they’re always just a click away.
Make plans with groups on the go
Group conversations make it easy to message everyone at once and see where your friends are. Don’t want to share your location? Turn it off with one click.
If your are Not using a smart phone? You can still reply to messages sent using Messenger by confirming your mobile number.
I am still not able to figure out where exactly is Facebook heading? In the race to beat Google+, they are replicating all Google+ features. Just after the launch of Google+, facebook launched Video chat (similar to Hangouts on G+) and now they have created a dedicated messenger app (similar to Huddle on G+).
