Is apple iPad2 really worth buying?

Steve Jobs recently unveiled a new version of the iPad – iPad2 – designed to tighten the competition in what Apple has called “Year of the copycats” referring to Android and Blackberry tablets.
After coming back from medical leave in January for an unspecified illness, Jobs was welcomed a standing ovation as he walked on stage at the Yerba Buena Theater to introduce iPad2. Now lets see whether iPad2 also gets a standing ovation from buyers or not?
Lets have a look How apple iPad2 is different.
Features which are unchanged.
- The display is exactly the same as ipad: 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution.
- Storage options are same as, 16, 32, and 64GB being your options.
- Your Wifi and Bluetooth will still be the same as 802.11 a/b/g/n and 2.1 + EDR respectively,
- Accelerometer stays the same at 3-axis.
- And not to forget RAM in iPad2 is same as iPad 256MB.
- Battery life is also same as iPad.
Features with little changes
- Unlike iPad you will be able to get iPad2 in two colors – black and white.
- Where before your iPad was either 680g or 730g depending on if you wanted 3G or not, the heaviest new iPad2 is 613g, and that’s the AT&T model. Next lightest is 607g with Verizon, and 601g with just Wifi.
- The thickness of iPad2 has been reduced 33% from 13.4mm down to 8.8mm.
- You will get a attached magnetic cover with iPad2
Features with significant changes
- Your iPad 2 processor has been updated from a 1GHz Apple A4 to a 1GHz dual-core Apple A5.
- In the iPad 2 you also get a gyroscope.
- You also get two new cameras. The Front camera is a VGA webcam and the Rear one is capable of recording video at 720p is definitely a step up from having no cameras at all, but as of now commenting on the capabilities of these cameras will not be a justice to them.
- Your cellular radio has been added too, where before you only had EDGE plus triband HSPA, you now have EDGE plus triband HSPA OR CDMA / EV-DO Rev. A.
So now the question is – Is iPad2 really worth buying?
The answer is both ‘Yes’ and ‘No’.
If you don’t own a iPad already then ‘Yes’ iPad2 is really worth buying as just paying an $100 extra as compared to iPad, will be giving you a lot of features and movement in this tablet race.
But if you already have a iPad then my suggestion to you is – Don’t go for iPad2, just wait a little bit. This tablet war has long to go.
Apple iPad2 will be released in the United States on March 11 and on March 25 in 26 other countries including France, Germany and Japan.
