Wave is not social networking sites or micro-blogging sites. Actually It combines aspects of email, instant messanging, wikis, web chat, social networking and project management to build one elegant. When you're working as a developer or doing some projects then Wave is very useful. Yeah It little bit complex, you need to spend some time to learn. Google Wave is Future.
